Time for a Break–but before you sign off, do this one thing and then take the rest of the Day Off

It’s December 24th. Let’s keep this quick.

Your brain is on gift-wrapping, last-minute errands, and finally stepping away from your desk.

But before you log off, here’s one small messaging tweak that could make a big difference for you when you’re back at your desk in January.

Add a “What’s Next” to Your Auto-Responder

You know that out-of-office message you (hopefully) already set up? Add a quick next step to keep your leads warm while you’re offline.

  • Point them to a helpful resource: “While I’m away, check out our free guide to [insert topic].”
  • Suggest a follow-up action: “Book a time to chat in January, and we’ll hit the ground running.”
  • Or give them something to look forward to: “Big things are coming in 2025—stay tuned for our first announcement on January 3rd!”

Why It Works

Even when you’re offline, your auto-responder keeps your messaging working. You’re not just saying “I’m away”; you’re giving them value and a reason to stay connected.

Today’s Step Forward

Take 3 minutes to update your auto-responder. Add:

  1. A link to a resource.
  2. A suggestion for next steps.
  3. A hint about what’s coming in January.

Done. Now, go enjoy your holiday.

Onward and upward.
